How far is Alta Ranch from Missoula?

About two hours south. The ranch is at 9203 West Fork Road near Darby, at the upper end of the Bitterroot Valley. Most out-of-state couples and guests fly into Missoula and drive south through the valley, which is a pretty start to the weekend.

That distance is exactly what makes it special. You trade a busy in-town venue for 340 private acres along a river, with mountains on every side and nothing in your photos but the land and the people you love.

Planning a wedding here from out of town

One trip out to walk the land is worth so much, because you'll stand where your aisle could be, feel the hangar under its lights, and choose the cabins your people will sleep in. After that visit, most of the planning happens easily by phone and email.

Because guests are traveling, a lot of couples choose the weekend packages, which put 14 people in the cabins on the ranch and give everyone a reason to make a trip of it.

Tips for guests traveling from Missoula

Tell guests the drive time when you send save-the-dates, so nobody plans to head back to Missoula the same night. Point them to lodging up the valley early, or invite a few to camp on the ranch (fees apply, ask us).

Give your guests a reason to arrive a day early, because once they're here, the West Fork, the trails and the pond turn your wedding into a weekend they'll talk about for years.
