The red-roof Cottonwood cabin at the edge of the meadow at Alta Ranch, with the valley behind it

A Montana wedding venue with lodging on site

Three log cabins sleep 14 right on the ranch, so the people closest to you wake up by the river instead of in a hotel two towns away.

  • 3log cabins on the ranch
  • 14people sleep on site
  • 1 or 2nights included in weekend packages
  • Campingfor extra guests, priced on request

Can wedding guests stay at Alta Ranch?

Yes. The ranch has three log cabins that sleep 14 in total: the Cottonwood (up to 8), the Ponderosa (up to 4) and the Aspen (2). The two weekend packages include all three: Mountain Escape includes one night and Montana Legacy includes two. For anyone else, there's on-site camping in two parking and camping areas.

Having your wedding party on the property changes the whole day. Nobody drives back to a hotel at midnight, getting ready happens in a log cabin with coffee on the table, and Sunday morning is slow coffee on the porch.

The three cabins

Each cabin has a full kitchen, a fireplace, and a porch with a BBQ. The Cottonwood is the big one, with a main-level king bedroom, a loft, a queen sleeper sofa, two bathrooms and laundry. The Ponderosa has two bedrooms and river and meadow views. The Aspen is a quiet cabin for two in the trees, close to the water.

Which packages include lodging?

Mountain Escape ($6,500) is two days with one night in all three cabins. Montana Legacy ($8,500) is three days with two nights in all three cabins, with room for a welcome gathering, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception and farewell brunch. Both are exclusive use for up to 200 guests.

The one-day packages don't include overnight stays, but you can rent the cabins by the night for the days around your wedding.

Where do the rest of the guests stay?

The cabins hold 14, so most couples put the wedding party and immediate family on the ranch. Extra guests can camp on site (ask us for pricing), and the rest usually stay in the towns up the Bitterroot Valley or in vacation rentals nearby.

Tell guests early that the ranch is about two hours south of Missoula, so they book a place to stay rather than planning to drive back to the city that night.
